A year at NC State
(PUBLIC DRAFT)
I have spent a sabbatical year at North Carolina State University.
It was great. Both for professional and for personal reasons.
I came back in April 2015, approximately three years ago.
Some topics I intend to discuss here (or in other posts):
- The Realsearch group and related topics
- Reading Group
- The bright young people Laurie Williams selected to form her group
- Other Software Engineering professors at NC State: Emerson, Menzies, Parnin.
- Hunt library and Hill library
- NC State, UNC and Duke
- Thy UNC and Duke are much richer than NC State
- Why NC State is at least as important as these two
- Engineering
- More students
- Raleigh and the triangle
- Three young muslims were murdered
- Running in the US and in the Triangle
- I ran two marathons (NYC Marathon 2014 and Tobacco Road Marathon 2015)
- I got tired of marathons!
- I “won” (very small) races
- I ran on Saturdays
- I ran in a parkrun
- I volunteered for a race
- I volunteered for a parkrun
- Snow!
- The need for cars. Buses are not that good. Free buses at the university. Transloc.
- Run commute. Walk commute.
