A year at NC State

(PUBLIC DRAFT)

I have spent a sabbatical year at North Carolina State University.

It was great. Both for professional and for personal reasons.

I came back in April 2015, approximately three years ago.

Some topics I intend to discuss here (or in other posts):

  • The Realsearch group and related topics
    • Reading Group
    • The bright young people Laurie Williams selected to form her group
    • Other Software Engineering professors at NC State: Emerson, Menzies, Parnin.
  • Hunt library and Hill library
  • NC State, UNC and Duke
    • Thy UNC and Duke are much richer than NC State
    • Why NC State is at least as important as these two
      • Engineering
      • More students
  • Raleigh and the triangle
  • Three young muslims were murdered
  • Running in the US and in the Triangle
    • I ran two marathons (NYC Marathon 2014 and Tobacco Road Marathon 2015)
      • I got tired of marathons!
    • I “won” (very small) races
    • I ran on Saturdays
    • I ran in a parkrun
    • I volunteered for a race
    • I volunteered for a parkrun
  • Snow!
  • The need for cars. Buses are not that good. Free buses at the university. Transloc.
  • Run commute. Walk commute.
